Soda Creek Lodge began life in 1940 as the home of the Edwin M. Smith family. They owned the local saw mill and cut and milled the logs and lumber to build this home.

The home's exterior is log and rock and the original interior finish is modern gypsum board and plaster. The lumber came from nearby Diamond Creek and the stone came from Cleveland, Idaho.

The Smith's owned the home until 1974 when it was purchased by the town doctor. Three years later the town eye doctor purchased the home and lived there until 2000.

In 2000 the home was sold again and was run as a bed & breakfast for several years.

In 2007 we purchased the home with the intent of transforming it into what you see today. The interior has been renovated to reflect the lodge style found outside. To form the Great Room we removed several interior walls and installed a hand peeled log beam. Tongue and groove was added to the ceiling and log siding was installed on the walls to create a warm, comfortable, 24x28 ft great room.

The gourmet kitchen was designed with large family gatherings in mind and easily supports two or three cooks. The dining area was also designed for large gatherings, easily seating 12.

A small bedroom at the rear of the house was also sided in log to create a cozy den/media room with a 42" HDTV and DVD. Cable TV and WIFI service are also available.

The five bedrooms were trimmed and repainted. Their original hardwood floors were sanded and refinished.

The bathrooms have been left nearly original, which adds to the lodge's character.

Unfortunately the 50 year-old faucets in the main bathroom gave out. We tried to find replacements but to no avail. We ended up replacing the original china sink with a new sink. To our amazement, a box of original tile was still in one of the upstairs closets. We used some of the original floor and blue and white wall tile to create a beautiful surround for the new sink.

There's something unique about log homes. They seem to whisk  your cares away and revitalize you. We hope you find our lodge as warm and inviting as we do,
